This issue includes…

1) “Video on Squeeze Pages - Does it Work?”
2) “Weekly Marketing Freebies”
3) “You Must First Give Before You Can Receive”
4) “Blogging Basics - Pros and Cons”
5) “Tell Us What You Think!”

THE 60 SECOND WEEKLY TIP

Video on Squeeze Pages - Does it Work?

Everywhere you look there is audio, video, or some other form of interactivity.

The internet is being integrated with television sets, mobile phones, coffee shops, etc.

It’s a quickly evolving monster with new audio, radio, music, move and video services popping up every day offering streaming music, radio and movies directly from your Internet connection.

Video is powerful because it’s the next best thing to actually being in person with your prospect telling them about what you have to offer.

Not only are you hitting them with the sound of your voice, but also their eyes. Bascially, there is nothing more personal on the internet than video.

Chances are, you haven’t seen anyone using video on a Squeeze page and this is because video is still relatively new when it comes to marketing.

I’m fairly certain that no matter what you are offering you could benefit greatly from adding video to your website by getting more qualified sign-ups to your list.

But make sure you test it.

You don’t need to have a long video and it doesn’t need to be super professional.

Just you in front of your web cam introducing yourself and emphasizing a powerful benefit that the subscriber gets for signing up will do the trick.

If you have never added video to a website before a great tool to try is Video Generator which can be found at http://InstantVideoGenerator.com

They also have a great example of a Squeeze Page there that includes video :-)

I highly recommend you try this video style squeeze page and test to see if can improve your own sign-ups.

FEATURED ARTICLE

You Must First Give Before You Can Receive!

People say that nothing in life is free. Well that may have been the case for the old school internet marketers, but the age of information has changed the way people look at things.

Some people use the internet with the sole intention of making money… and that is their only intention.

Well this may have worked in the early days when the internet was in its infancy, but now the internet has matured it’s simply a ‘dinosaur’ marketing technique.

The fossils who continue to use this method have been left behind.

By the fossils I mean the people that just want to sell, sell, sell. They don’t want to help you make money, they just want to take it.

One of, and if not the most important things to do today, is to help people and give them as much information as possible.

That’s right, give them the information. That means for free!

Once you have done this, they will be willing and wanting to give you their money, because they know that you are the real deal and know what you are doing is in their best interests.

I cannot emphasize strongly enough the fact that you should give away free information, that contains great content, before you try and start to make money.

If you go on the internet and just try to sell an information product (or anything for that matter), then you are going to be very disappointed in the results.

Establishing yourself in any business is the key to success, so make sure you can create quality free products and help people.

If you give away good advice and the know how of a good business, then people will want to learn more and they will come back to you, because you have already told them what they need to know and have build up a friendly relationship with them.

A good example of a ‘new age’ marketer with this mindset is Alex Jeffreys.

Alex recently launched a free site called Post Launch Profits Secrets where he exposed his online blueprint that made him over $78,000 in just a few short months.

…but the important thing to remember is that he’s giving away free advice because he genuinely cares about helping other people to achieve their income goals.

And you need to do the same!

Listen. If someone just has to pay for advice from you, then you are not going to be noticed as much as if you give away that piece of advice or knowledge.

If you regularly give away free help, your readers will look at your messages with more than a glancing interest even when you’re not giving away something.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, but with dedication and help (that can be free) anyone can make a successful business on the internet.

So the importance of the freebie is undoubtedly more important than the initial sale, especially if you build a list on the back end.

EFFECTIVE MARKETING STRATEGIES

Blogging Basics - Pros and Cons!

In the last lesson we went over some of the different techniques for designing and installing your blog. In this lesson we are going to go over some of the pros and cons of building a website versus starting a blog.

Here’s the problem, you know you want a solid online presence, but you’re faced with a dilemma.

Do you choose a blog or a website? How do you solve this problem?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock we all know what a website is. Simply put. it is a combination of texts, images, video or flash messages designed to inform and entertain its visitors.

And as you learned in the last lesson, a blog is a similar to a website that is constructed in the format of an online journal.

In this lesson, we are going to go over some of the pros and cons of building a website compared to starting a blog.

First let’s discuss a website versus a blog in terms of navigation.

When you build a website’s the navigation is often linked through a menu at the top, side or bottom of the page. This menu should contain a main index page which is referred to as the homepage.

When you start a blog it is usually navigated through links to the previous or next entries shown either at the start or end of each post or in the blogs sidebar.

The sidebar contains customizable navigation links like Pages, About, Archives etc..

It may also include links to your previous posts organized by the dates they were posted. A “Categories” segment is also a mainstay of the sidebar and you will often find a blogroll or a list of external links included as well.

Ok. Now let’s talk about a website versus a blog in terms of update-ability.

A website usually presents static content that you have to update manually.

Now it is possible to link to a news page or RSS feed that will refresh the information on your webpage regularly, but this requires a bit of programming knowledge to make it work effectively.

Also, when you build a website, you either have to learn HTML or how to use what is referred to as a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor to update them.

When it comes to setting up a blog most of the programming is already done for you. Blogs are built with a existing content management system that makes adding content easier by simply logging into your control panel, writing your post and clicking publish.

It really is that easy!

Another great thing about setting up a blog is a thorough wide variety of templates available that make customizing the look and feel of your pages much easier without any programming knowledge.

What about website versus a blog in terms of web usability?

The truth be told when it comes to the usability of a blog it may not differ that much from a website in the eyes of your visitor.

However, when it comes to updating and maintaining your blog you may find it relatively easy to do especially with all the ready made templates, plugin’s and widgets that are available to you.

Not to mention the fact that there are basically no programming skills required to do these tasks :-)

Last but not least, let’s talk about a website versus a blog in  terms of visitor interaction.

If you’ve visited a blog lately you may have noticed that they have a built in feature where your readers can easily leave a comment to any post they want after reading it.

This makes it easy for you “the author” of the blog to interact with your visitors. Plus you get instant fresh content provided by your readers, which the search engines just LOVE.

This isn’t the case with a website.

Although a static website usually has a “Contact Us” page where you can have your visitor send you a note, it does not have the same interactive feel and ease that a blog does.

Right. Now it’s decision time.

Do you build a website or do you start a blog?

Ultimately the decision is up to you. Do you plan on offering information that does not require regular updating?

If so, then a website may be just what you need.

But if you plan on making frequent updates and want easy interaction with your readers then a blog may be the best option for you.

One more thing to consider before we finish this lesson is that you may want to have both a website AND a blog!

I’m not saying this to confuse you. I just want to let you know that with the proper set-up a blog and a website can easily work hand in hand to help accomplish your goals.

Just something to think about.

Make sure you look for your next lesson where we will be discussing responsible blogging ethics.
