THE 60 SECOND WEEKLY TIP
Drilling Down Your Niche!
Once you have decided on a niche market to target, you need to carry out a search to see how much competitiion there is.
If you only find a few, you have a viable idea where there will be limited competition. If you find that your chosen niche is to competitive, you will need to tweak your plans.
First, try varying keyword searches to ‘drill down’ your niche. Your plan is to come up with that one niche that makes your business stand out.
For example, say you want to start a knitting business so you go to Google and type in “knit clothing” and it brings up hundreds of thousands of listings for this search term.
Obviously, that’s too many websites to try and compete with, so your next step is to narrow it down.
Instead of trying to squeeze into an already saturated market, you can narrow down your niche by selling “custom made knit clothing,”.
Or take it even further and sell one specific thing like, “custom knit baby blankets” or “custom knit children’s clothing.”
The key to finding a profitable niche is to take your main interest and break it down as much as you can. Your goal is get it to the point where you can focus on one very specific thing.

Tips for a Newbie Affiliate Marketer!
There are many tips that could help any newbie in this field. Here a few here to get you started in your affiliate marketing quest.
1. Use products related to your site’s topic:
It’s important that the products you sign up to sell on your information website, relate to the topic you’re offering on that site. Don’t choose ones that have nothing to do with your site.
For example, if you have a vitamin and mineral information site you wouldn’t want to sell Gardening eBooks unless it somehow link into your content.
You can sell other products, but build other specific websites to sell them from that have information relating to that topic.
2. Don’t overcrowd your site:
This is a mistake made quite often by newbies in this business. Some affiliate programs give you a banner or button to sell their products with your affiliate code embedded in them.
Sure these banners are flashy and could be eye catching to site visitors, but they can also be too distracting.
Too many of these buttons and banners placed on your sites will have potential consumers grabbing for their computer mouse to click away from the site. Your affiliate business is a professional business, so make sure your site reflects that.
Distracting graphics and flashy animations will only make you look like a scammer. There’s nothing wrong with using them, just make sure you use sparingly and keep in context with the site.
3. Know your site’s topic well:
No matter what topic your website may be about, you should know as much about it as you can. This helps your credibility show in your business.
The less you know about your topic, the more likely people will be to figure it out and you won’t be taken seriously.
You can certainly hire a ghostwriter to write articles for your site, so that it looks like you know something about the topic, but it’s always better if you research the topic yourself to become known as an expert in the field.
Learn about online marketing techniques:
Some newbies make the mistake of going into this kind of business thinking that their website will do all the work for them and they can just sit back and watch the money roll in.
Unfortunately those who do think this way end up with a rude awakening when they find out that they’re not selling many products.
You will need to work hard at marketing your site, so learn as much about online marketing as you can and utilize as many of those techniques as possible to drive traffic to your site.
The more you put into your work, the more you essentially get out of it.
EFFECTIVE MARKETING STRATEGIES
Blogging Basics - Responsible Ethics!
In the last lesson we talked about the pros and cons of building a website versus starting a blog. In this lesson we are going to talk about responsible blogging ethics.
Although there is no clear cut code of ethics for online blogging, the responsibility to post ethical entries and dialogues still hold.
It is important to remind you at this stage that you MUST at all times maintain a minimum standard with ALL your blog comments and posts.
So with this in mind, in this lession we are going to go over some of the unspoken rules and responsibilities that come along with being an ethical blogger.
1 - Always be honest and fair.
Simply put, this implores bloggers to ensure that all the information they are posting are accurate.
The facts should be well presented (without distorting its real context) and all pertinent links should be stated.
In cases when the authenticity and correctness of the information is doubtful, it is imperative to inform the reader. Never take opinions and post them as facts.
2 - Do your best not to inflict any harm.
Practice care when mentioning names and events. If your entry is discussing a rather controversial topic or person, be mindful with what you are saying.
Always consider the affected party’s possible reaction and strive to dampen the blow, if not to eliminate it.
A person’s privacy should always be held in high esteem. Using the quest for information and the truth to barge into other people’s private business is in bad taste.
Work to showcase compassion and empathy to any individual you are writing about who is affected by grief and misfortune.
3 - Remember you are accountable for your actions.
Take charge of the consequences of your publishing. If you have made a mistake, accept it and work immediately to resolve any conflict it might have caused.
In other words, own your posts and any reaction they may invoke.
If people have questions about your information, promote a healthy discussion and be open to other ideas. The new learning you might discover may ultimately lead to the improvement of your content.
Every person has their own measure of what is ethical and what is not. The above list may not cover everything that a blogger should maintain to effect the integrity of the blogging community.
It is important to note however that ethical is primarily a question of how others are treated and affected by our actions.
Therefore the subjects of your blog entries should be given respect and portrayed in the most objective light as possible at all times.
Ok, that’s all for today. Make sure you look for your next lesson were we will discuss why a great idea isn’t always enough when it comes to building your blog.
